This is an unrated round robin, Open chess tournament sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Chess Club with a time Control of G/10. As dictatated by turnout, this will be either a double round robin, or single round robin.
The tournament will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-Op. The Co-Op is located in Roanoke, Va. at 1319 Grandin Rd. near Memorial Ave. SW. It is next door to the Va. Heights Baptist Church, directly across the street from the Grandin Theater.
Registration is $12.00 per person to the general public and $10.00 per person to RVCC members and to kids under 13 years of age. Registration at the door will be from 12 noon to 12:45 pm August 14th.
NINTY PERCENT OF ALL ENTRIES WILL BE RETURNED AS PRIZES !
1st : 35%, 2nd : 20%, 3rd : 15%, Class Prize : 10%, Top Jr : 10%.
One section will be formed based on the number of players who enter.
USCF membership is NOT required for this event.
This is an unrated tournament. Score keeping is NOT required, nor is it recommended !
A maximum of two 1/2-pt. byes are available for any round if requested before Rd.1.

This is a 3-Round, Grand Prix, Open chess tournament sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Chess Club. This tournament will be fully-rated by the U.S. Chess Federation.
The tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church. The church is located in Roanoke, Va. at 4608 Brambleton Ave. and is four blocks from the intersection of Brambleton Ave. (Route 221) and Electric Rd. (Route 419) SW. It is one block beyond the Kroger grocery store.
Rounds: 10am, 2:30pm & 6:30pm.
Time Controls: G/90 ( with 5 seconds delay ).
At 1:30 pm there will be a FREE LUNCH, accompanied by a brief remembrance ceremony for Tracy Callis Jr.
Advance registration is $30 up until 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Friday, Aug. 20th. Registration is $40 after that date, including at the door. Registration at the door will be from 8:30 am - 9:30 am, Saturday, Aug. 21.

The top - section consists of the 8 - 11 highest rated players.
The prizes for this TOP section are as follows : 1st : $125.00 2nd : $100.00 3rd : $75.00.
Other sections will be formed based on the number of players who enter.

NOTE: If any section has less than a Quad, then this section will be combined with the one above it. In this case, the prize fund for the upper section will be increased; thus almost ALL of the entry fees will be paid back as prizes !

Half point byes are available for any round if requested before the first round. ( Maximum # of byes : 1. )
